Meet Stacie James

The Lord has blessed Youth Horizons in the past with a wonderful staff. He has recently called many of those staff members to new things. As a result, nearly all of the staff at Youth Horizons is new. We will be introducing one of our new staff members to you each month, starting with Stacie James.

Stacie has known that she was called to work with at-risk youth since she was 15 years old. She had noticed kids coming and going from a juvenile care facility and began asking questions about at-risk kids. Over the years, she remained intrigued by the needs facing at-risk youth, and compassion grew in her heart, along with a desire to meet those needs.

When Stacie decided to go to college, she knew she wanted to pursue a degree in social work. She graduated in May 2010, with a Bachelors of Social work from Wichita State University. She obtained her social worker’s license soon thereafter.

Stacie has worked both in foster care and in residential care for boys and girls. She originally heard about Youth Horizons through a radio ad, and was drawn to work at Youth Horizons because it is a faith-based ministry. She joined the staff in Feb. 2011, as a mentor coach and intake specialist.

Stacie would eventually like to earn a Master’s degree in social work and business. She also dreams of starting a home for girls, much like the Kinloch-Price Boys Ranch. She believes there is great need in Kansas for faith-based residential care for girls.

Stacie celebrated her one-year anniversary with her husband, Daniel, on Oct. 16, 2011. They attend Calvary Baptist Church together in Derby. She enjoys scrapbooking, baking, playing piano and singing in her free time.
