Boys at the Ranch Attend Youth Camp
The boys participated in River Community Church’s Youth Camp. The camp was at the Webster Conference Center in Salina, Ks. We went for a week June 25th to the 29th. Although, it was a week of extreme heat it was a good week.
The camp consists of team sports games, worship and messages aimed at helping young people navigate life. Each day starts with the kids going to different classes led by the camp speaker. Then we go to the competition games. After lunch each day is free time until 5:30 p.m. This time can be used to sign up for different courses like a high ropes course and other courses meant to help build teamwork or confidence within the youth. Also, there is a pond with a blob that is a much-used apparatus. With the heat that we experienced this year the pond was very popular.
Our boys entered the experience with gusto and all the boys did really well in staying engaged in the week. One of the boys gave his life to Christ on Wednesday evening. During the worship and message time I could see the Holy Spirit was dealing with him. It was a tremendous privilege to be able to pray with him as he made Christ Lord of his life. Another boy came back stating that he thought God was calling him to ministry. We talked a lot about what that would mean and how to start getting prepared for a life of ministry. I told him that for now it means getting to know Jesus, becoming Holy in his life choices and learning to serve. Another boy mentioned wanting to know Jesus in a way he could minister to his family. All of the boys made friends and deepened some already existing friendships. It was an exhausting week for everyone but a week in which God spoke to all of their hearts in profound ways. We played and we wept together. Pray that the things God started will continue on in the boy’s hearts. They all came back having been impacted for Christ.
