STEM Night
Science, robots, games and more ruled the evening last month at the first-ever Mentoring STEM Night.
MakeICT – a community-building organization focusing on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) activities—helped facilitate the evening. Board members Dustin Richey and Tom McGuire came to showcase MakeICT’s Sumobots, as well as a Disassemble Station where kids had the chance to take apart electronics.
Other activities from the evening included:
- Remote control cars
- Playing with the Sphero and Ollie robots donated in memory of Levi Hampton
- A 100 cup challenge
- Aluminum boat challenge
- Snap circuits board
- And many, many others
Youth from Calvary Chapel helped with the different stations throughout the evening. Dinner was provided through the generosity of a local Jimmy John’s restaurant. The evening was a great opportunity for the more than 50 people in attendance to learn while having fun. See more pictures from the evening at Facebook.com/YouthHorizons.
