Meet KPBR Cook, Amanda
I am Amanda Neujahr, the new cook at the Kinloch Price Boys Ranch. When it comes to cooking, I have been working in a kitchen since I was 13; I was hungry for experience and any knowledge I could get my hands on about the subject of culinary arts. Time spent at home was either with family or with cooking for my family. I started on a Culinary Arts Degree at Butler College when I was 17, but I ended that adventure to participate in a yearlong missions program. In 2019, I spent three months in Florida training for my upcoming mission abroad.
From April until end of September, I dedicated my time to Calvary Chapel Entebbe, a church and school on the shores of Lake Victoria in central Uganda. I spent weekdays in the kitchen, where I washed dishes, prepared, and cooked food for 300 students. On the weekend, I served the church at their Kid’s Club. The Kids Club taught the word of God and fed local children. In October 2019, I returned to the United States, got engaged to one of my teammates and moved to Montana where we were married. In July 2020, I moved back to Kansas with my husband to be closer to family. KPBR leader James Bazil recently reached out to me about an opening in the KPBR kitchen. I had visited the ranch a few times with my church to minister to the boys, so I had previous experience serving them. I knew the great work done there, and I was excited to join the team.
