Quarterly Message: Youth Horizons President Robert Garner

Greetings, this newsletter comes to you with excitement about the work we are doing at Youth Horizons and the opportunity for impact in 2022. I just finished reading a book titled “Reweaving Shalom” and was encouraged throughout the book because it spoke profoundly of God’s intent around “Peace.” At a greater level, it was affirming to me because of the work that Youth Horizons is doing to help restore peace in the Wichita community. Peace, as referenced in the book, has a broader meaning and calls us to a higher level of service and
accountability. I was drawn to the passage of Luke 4:18 -19. I believe what is embodied in this passage is God’s intent for all of us. It reads in part, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor…..…. to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” I gleaned a lot from this passage because it inspires
me to do more, and it reminds me of the goodness of the Youth Horizons community that includes you.

As I continue to lead the work of Youth Horizons, I remain faithful and grounded in my belief that God will sustain us. He will
provide the tools, the people, the financial resources that Youth Horizons needs to empower our youth and families to be healthy and productive members of the Wichita community. Our core values speak to us being Gospel Driven at the core of our work, Committed to the youth and families we serve, inspired by Relationships, striving daily to be the consummate Professional, and grounded deeply in Community. As always, thank you for trusting us. Thank you for all that you are doing to bring peace on this earth during a time of tremendous need and brokenness.
