Quarterly Message: Youth Horizon’s President Robert Garner
Greetings,
For the past three years, one of my goals has been to keep you apprised of our journey to build Wren House and embrace a vision to serve girls set forth by the late Keith Wren. Mr. Wren donated nearly 50 acres to Youth Horizons and provided a generous financial gift. We have honored Mr. Wren’s request: Wren House is open.
Thank you for staying engaged, as we have never felt alone during this journey. Yes, we met financial challenges and we continue to raise financial support for the Wren House project. Yes, we met resistance from the community and felt overwhelmed at times. However, it has been reassuring that the Holy Spirit softens hearts. I am full with joy as we open Youth Horizons’ first residential facility for girls. Psalms 34:1 reads, “I will bless the LORD at all times; his praises shall continually be in my mouth.” The Wren House facility is comprised of two beautiful homes and a multipurpose education building. The Kansas Department of Families and Children has approved a license and service agreement. Thank you God and thank you to the hundreds of people who have volunteered, blessed us financially and prayed diligently to bring this project to fruition. I reflect on James 5:16, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
YEAR-END GIVING/PLEDGE
I want to share this story as I encourage additional giving for our end of year financial needs. In December of last year, my heart was heavy regarding fiscal year 2022. I was experiencing financial uncertainties regarding Youth Horizons’ budgetary needs. During our first prayer meeting in January, I asked my team to pray with me concerning our monthly financial donations. Primarily, because the financial demands of the Wren construction project were significant. My specific monthly prayer has been, “Lord God Almighty, by the power of the Holy Spirit, please, speak to the heart of a few to bless Youth Horizons with a single financial gift that would be over and above normal support.”
As I write to you, tears of joy and thankfulness overcome me because God has honored my prayer every single month. This year has been exceptional in terms of financial support. Philippians 4:19 reminds me, “and my God will supply all of your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” I remain confident that God will continue to honor what He has promised. He has blessed Youth Horizons in abundance. Our needs remain great as the ministry continues to grow. The Wren House ministry is finally in full motion. Youth Horizons feels honored that God has given us the opportunity of operating a residential group home for girls. Again, our biggest need during the final two months of this fiscal year 2022 is financial support. I continue to pray for your generosity. Please stay engaged by continuing to read our monthly newsletter. Connect with us on social media. Stay tuned with the many opportunities to give your time and talent. In closing, please pray about your financial support for fiscal year 2023. For your convenience, please make donations here.
