It’s National Mentorship Month

January is National Mentoring Month, a good time to raise awareness about the opportunities, rewards and needs around mentoring. Mentoring is part of Youth Horizons’
origins. Founded more than three decades ago, the ministry’s early mission included mentoring, a nurturing way to serve young people by matching them with caring adult Christians. Youth Horizons continues to do this important work, and we still need mentors for the nearly 40 youth, mostly boys, on our Waiting List (about 120 youth are matched).

Please consider becoming a Mentor. Youth Horizons offers three different options for one-to-one mentoring: community-based, school-based, and residential mentoring. We need Mentors for Waiting List youth, students in local schools, and foster youth living at Kinloch Price Boys Ranch and Wren House for girls, both in Valley Center. Our mentoring program provides training and constant support for Mentors through our staff Mentor Coaches. Our Mentors are equipped to walk alongside the boys and girls they serve.

If you or someone you know want to become a Mentor, please contact Carrie Crow at carrie@youthhorizons.net or (316) 262-8293. Also, please consider joining our staff at one of the following events to learn more about mentoring opportunities. Bring a spouse, a friend, a fellow believer. Now is a good time – it’s National Mentoring Month!
