More Than a File: Seeing the Person Behind the Paperwork

Recently, a new young man arrived at Kinloch Price Boys Ranch – Mr. A, 16 years old, carrying a past that does not define him and a hope that refuses to be extinguished.

Like every boy who comes through our doors, A has faced challenges. The paperwork attached to his name lists hardships, past behaviors, and official judge orders. But that’s not the story we choose to see.
We see a young man created in the image of God, with infinite value and divine purpose. We see his determination to focus on school, sports, fitness, and – most importantly – his faith. He grew up knowing the Lord but lost his way. Now, he’s choosing to return, to rebuild, to believe again. That choice is courageous. That choice is his first step toward healing. And we know that where healing begins, God’s grace is already at work.

At Youth Horizons, our mission is grounded in the Gospel. We believe every child is loved by God and capable of reflecting His beauty, even through brokenness. We don’t reduce kids to evaluations or past mistakes. We don’t meet them with skepticism or suspicion. Instead, we greet them with dignity, compassion, and the unshakable belief that redemption is possible for everyone.

Our role is to provide structure, encouragement, and unwavering support—not just to manage behaviors, but to spark transformation through God’s love. That is our mission. And that is what makes us different.

House 1 at the Kinloch Price Boys Ranch is full, but it is exactly where A needs to be. A place of stability. A place of hope. A place where the grace of God meets the grit of young lives determined to change.
So today, we welcome A – not as a case number, but as a young man stepping into a new chapter. Our staff is ready to set the tone of opportunity, not limitation. Comment below to remind him that he is more than his past. He is fearfully and wonderfully made. He is worthy of love, healing, and a future filled with possibility.

Welcome ‘home’, A.

We’re glad you’re here.
