Paper Threads

At Youth Horizons, we believe that gratitude is best expressed from the heart—and sometimes, through the hands. This year, as a special thank-you to our Board of Directors, we enlisted the creativity of six young artists living at Kinloch Price Boys Ranch and Wren House.
Using nothing but misprinted brochures and the Youth Horizons logo, these boys and girls—ages 12 to 17—transformed paper into woven works of art. What could have been discarded became something meaningful, just like how our kids, so often overlooked by the world, are finding their value through love, mentorship, and opportunity.
For some, weaving was an easy, almost meditative process. For others, it was a challenge—requiring patience, focus, and persistence. But for all, it became a way to channel energy, build resilience, and create something tangible from their own hands. Studies show that creating art reduces cortisol (the stress hormone) and helps regulate emotions, making it a vital tool in trauma-informed care.
And while our Board and these young artists may never meet, their lives are interwoven. The decisions our Board makes ripple down into these children’s futures. And now, these children have sent something back—a token of thanks, crafted with care, reflecting the unseen but powerful connection between them.
This isn’t just art. It’s a symbol of transformation, resilience, and the beauty of lives woven together for a greater purpose.
