Leading by Example – Malik
by · Feb 28, 2025
At Youth Horizons, we believe that faith isn’t just something we practice on Sundays – it’s a way of life, shaping how we serve, love, and lead every day. This truth was powerfully demonstrated recently by one of our own, Malik, who serves as our Transportation, Compliance, and House Support Specialist at the Kinloch Price Boys Ranch.
Malik is more than just an employee; he’s a mentor, a role model, and a steady presence for the boys and young men at the ranch. His job gives him the opportunity to instill values of integrity, perseverance, and hope in those he serves. But Malik doesn’t just talk about these things – he lives them out. He recently took a bold step in his faith journey by being baptized at Life Church in Derby, KS, setting an inspiring example for the youth who look up to him.
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation, a public declaration of faith and commitment to Christ. For the boys at Kinloch Price, many of whom have experienced extreme hardship and uncertainty, seeing a leader like Malik take this step is a testament to the power of personal faith. It’s one thing to encourage young people to trust in God, but it’s another to show them what that trust looks like in real life. Malik’s decision to be baptized is a beautiful reminder that faith is meant to be lived out, both at home and at work, in the small daily interactions and the big life-changing moments.
At Youth Horizons, we celebrate stories like Malik’s because they reflect the heart of our mission: to bring hope and healing through Christ-centered relationships. We are grateful for team members who not only support our boys with their time and effort but also lead by example, demonstrating what it means to walk in faith, even when no one is watching.
Malik’s journey encourages us all to reflect—how are we living out our faith in our everyday lives? Are we leading by example in our workplaces, in our families, and in our communities? His story is a beautiful reminder that when we live authentically for Christ, others take notice, and lives are changed.
We celebrate with Malik and thank him for being a light in the lives of those we serve. May we all strive to live out our faith boldly, just as he has.
