Riverlawn Volunteers Bring Great Day of Service to KPBR
by · Oct 7, 2025
The grounds at Kinloch Price Boys Ranch are always alive with growth – grass that needs taming, trees that stretch skyward, and young men learning what it means to grow in character and responsibility. Recently, a crew from Riverlawn Christian Church joined that rhythm of growth, bringing willing hearts, strong hands, and a joyful spirit of service.

As part of Riverlawn’s Great Day of Service (GDS) – an annual tradition where members reach out to serve across the Wichita community – this group chose to spend their time at the Ranch. What we LOVE about this photo is the representation of several generations all coming together in service. They tackled outdoor projects, trimmed trees, cleared the sand pit, and restored order to spaces that can easily become overrun by the Kansas prairie (and weeds). But their work went far beyond just physical labor. Seen on Riverlawn’s Facebook page:
“Yesterday we celebrated a Riverlawn annual tradition, going out into our community and being the hands and feet of Jesus, of showing Christ’s love to people outside the walls of our church.”
Each year, Riverlawn sends volunteers into the community – to widows’ homes, other churches, and neighborhoods in need – living out the call to “not just share the Word of God, but to put action behind it.” At Youth Horizons, that heart for service meets real needs. Their time and energy make a lasting difference for the boys who call the Ranch home – boys who are learning that community care and Christ’s love often come through people who show up and serve.
Volunteer days like this help transform the Ranch in ways that matter deeply. They make it safer, brighter, and more welcoming for the youth who live here. But they also carry a message that echoes beyond the fence line: you are seen, valued, and worth investing in.
We’re deeply grateful for Riverlawn and every group that chooses to put faith into motion. Whether you’re part of a church, business, or community group, your time and presence can make a real impact right here in Wichita.
If you’re ready to serve, we’ll match your team with a project that fits your skills and availability – yard work, painting, organizing donations, or sharing a meal with youth in foster care at the Ranch or Wren House.
Because when we all put our hands into the community, lives are changed – ours included.
